Tajiyama @ Vivo

"At Tajimaya, you can expect an authentic Japanese charcoal grill experience like no other. The restaurant offers a fun and interactive ‘hands-on cooking’ and dining experience by allowing you to grill your own delectable meats at your very own table."

after my graduation, we went to tajiyama for dinner. i normally shun from anything which requires me to cook at the table such as bbq/steamboat etc cause i hate the heat and smell. thankfully tajiyama was ok on both ends.

we ordered a few a la carte dishes, a pork set for 4, and a wagyu set for 4.

wagyu! it was very simple but tasted so awesome lightly grilled.

the plate of pork. the pork was a little too fatty for my taste. thought the beef was way nicer.

cold noodles which i ordered. simple and chewy. #carbomonster

 mixed sashimi plate.

and my brother cooking hurr.

the charcoal grill had some form of ventilation so most smoke was drawn downwards. the aircon was very strong so the heat was bearable. still, i think non-grill/steamboat places are still better. the lingering smell after eating at such places is always such a turn-off.

despite that, i think tajiyama minimized all these issues so well that i wouldnt mind going back there again.

Dinner Dates

we need to satisfy my mexican food craving soon!!! heard that Muchachos was great but havent had the chance to try it yet. the heat is unbearable these days. so ive started going out only after the sun sets. which is still a futile attempt cause even the nights are warm. sigh.

Hong Kong Food Porn

so during recess week, i went to on a short trip to hongkong! it was really just to get away from this tiny island and to stuff myself silly with good food. hehh. so this post will be extremely food heavy!

right after the plane landed, we checked into our hotel and went for brunch at a diner near our place. it was crammed with locals so many people kept asking us where we were from and such.

god i love rice rolls. like, crazy in loveee.

after that we went to meet our friend and had Australian Diary!!!

honestly, how can scrambled eggs be so plain yet so darn tasty?! couldnt get enough of it!

we had dinners at random diners which smell good. so basically we walk by, smell something awesome, and stop. hahaha. did not go wrong with that method at all.

iced milk tea! it is so rare that i will choose anything over coffee but the milk tea was irresistableee. so sometimes i cave and get yinyang. best of both worlds?

my beef brisket noodles. nomnomnom.

after a long shopping trip, we ended up at Yee Shun Milk Company at Causeway.

the french toast here was epic! especially when drenched in syrup. ugh.

the last day we went on yet another chill day of shopping at Mongkok area. had a super greedy brunch to kickstart the day!

 century egg porridge.

more rice rolls.

even more rice rolls wrapped around youtiao.

and of course....BO LUO BAO!

the hot buns and ice cold butter. omggg. do they have these in singapore???

as someone with a very volatile and weak stomach, i tend to avoid street food. but the lure of hongkong street food is insane. i ended up spending much of my first night at the toilet puking but the next day i was back at it, filling my tummy with curry fishballs. hahahaha. no way will i let my lousy stomach stop me from enjoying!!! ( ̄ー ̄)

gosh i miss the food so bad (゚´Д`゚)゚

The Factory

tonnes of new cafes and food places have been popping up at kovan like wild mushrooms. Lola Cafe has nice desserts but it gets boring after awhile. met fush and garrett for dinner at The Factory a few weeks back.

the menu was not very extensive and mostly just normal food with fries. the dips available were quite interesting though. there were curry, marmite and cheeses. i chose the marmite dip which i thought was the yummiest.

wrap with curry dip.

fish and chips with blue cheese dip.

mushroom pasta with marmite dip. the pasta was boring. i got extremely sick of it after 3 mouthfuls. not a good choice at all. the fries with the marmite dip was awesome though.

finally meeting them after so long!

will be going back to black or darker colored hair soon. that thought alone is so depressing...

TOGI korean diner

after going to the SEA aquarium, we went over to grab early dinner cause i was s-t-a-r-v-i-n-g. my gosh. went to clarke quay thinking that i wanted sashimi (after all the fish in the tanks), but ended up at mosque street for korean! it is my first time at Togi but it was so so so yummy! it had this homely family atmosphere. plus the kimchi fried rice was ultimate comfort food to me. hehh.

juicy spicy pork and squid.

kimchi fried riceeee. i finished about 90% of it. insane carbo load.

fried spicy pork and squid. i like it cause ive a rather low tolerance for spicy food. this was just about right.

fresh greens which werent withered nor sad.

snipping the chicken up!

ginseng chicken soup which was flavorful! not bland at all.

throughout the whole dinner i was just so happy nomming. granted i was starving, but this meal made me extremely happy for some reason. might be the insane carbo load with kimchi? or maybe just that i finally managed to meet up with the super busy uncle for dinner. ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ
