Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Hot Pepper

i love lip creams. so after seeing that Bourjois has a matte finish lip cream in hot red, i just had to get it!

this is 03 Hot Pepper

it is a bright red with more of an orange tone. it dries to a matte velvety finish, true to its name.

small and easy to apply applicator

the texture is nice and non-drying
the color pay-off is great
it stains very well and lasts after a meal
convenient to reapply

xxx
the lipcream is not scented so it smells a tad weird

overall
i feel that at around $20 a pop, it's definitely worth a try!

Online Shopping Tips for the Curvier Girls

most girls in singapore are really tiny, and skinny (and honestly, not much boobs). so it isnt a surprise that local clothes are catered to them and it is near impossible for me to find clothes which fit.

to give an idea to non-singaporeans, clothes sold locally (excluding uk/us brands) run at a default of uk6 or smaller. im a uk size 8 to 10, so buying clothes is a nightmare.

to combat this, i turn to online shopping. brands such as asos, nastygal and more indie brands offer free international shipping, just contact them and ask about the minimum spend if not already stated! thankfully, singapore's shipping is very efficient so i have not lost any parcels before.

my favorite brand for work/formal clothes is asos. the size cutting runs true and the quality has never been sub-par before. what you see is what you get.

Tips for Happy Online Shopping

1. GOOGLE FOR REVIEWS!
i cant stress this enough. if sites seem dodgy or have too-good-to-be-true prices, it most probably is. giving your credit card info to such sites wont really be advisable! and the disappointment of receiving bad items or worse still, not receiving them? not worth it.

2. CHECK THE SHIPPING INFORMATION
shipping costs can be substantial, so if possible, get your friends to shop together or wait for a bulk buy. for asos, purchases of >$175 gets you free express shipping to singapore! your order reaches in 2 days and it is so insanely satisfying. checking the estimated delivery time also gives you some mental preparation before you buy it.

3. LOOK OUT FOR THE MODEL'S FIT
if your figure aint like the models, then do look out for the fit! rule of thumb is, if it looks bad or unflattering on the model, it will most probably look worse on you.

4. WAIT FOR HOLIDAY SALES
4th of july, black friday, cyber friday bla bla bla. there are sales going on almost every month! check and perhaps wait awhile for them sales. items will be up to 50% off or more! saves you from the heartache of buying something for $200 and going back a week later and seeing it at $50.

5. avoid white clothes
i steer clear of white clothes. the thing about white clothes is, the shade of white. too yellow? too polyester looking? there is a lot of considerations. plus the material may be too translucent, especially on light colored pieces.

thats all for now!

Tajiyama @ Vivo

"At Tajimaya, you can expect an authentic Japanese charcoal grill experience like no other. The restaurant offers a fun and interactive ‘hands-on cooking’ and dining experience by allowing you to grill your own delectable meats at your very own table."

after my graduation, we went to tajiyama for dinner. i normally shun from anything which requires me to cook at the table such as bbq/steamboat etc cause i hate the heat and smell. thankfully tajiyama was ok on both ends.

we ordered a few a la carte dishes, a pork set for 4, and a wagyu set for 4.

wagyu! it was very simple but tasted so awesome lightly grilled.

the plate of pork. the pork was a little too fatty for my taste. thought the beef was way nicer.

cold noodles which i ordered. simple and chewy. #carbomonster

 mixed sashimi plate.

and my brother cooking hurr.

the charcoal grill had some form of ventilation so most smoke was drawn downwards. the aircon was very strong so the heat was bearable. still, i think non-grill/steamboat places are still better. the lingering smell after eating at such places is always such a turn-off.

despite that, i think tajiyama minimized all these issues so well that i wouldnt mind going back there again.

The Factory

tonnes of new cafes and food places have been popping up at kovan like wild mushrooms. Lola Cafe has nice desserts but it gets boring after awhile. met fush and garrett for dinner at The Factory a few weeks back.

the menu was not very extensive and mostly just normal food with fries. the dips available were quite interesting though. there were curry, marmite and cheeses. i chose the marmite dip which i thought was the yummiest.

wrap with curry dip.

fish and chips with blue cheese dip.

mushroom pasta with marmite dip. the pasta was boring. i got extremely sick of it after 3 mouthfuls. not a good choice at all. the fries with the marmite dip was awesome though.

finally meeting them after so long!

will be going back to black or darker colored hair soon. that thought alone is so depressing...

Learning Blender in a crunch

while taking cs4342, to be honest i learnt everything about Blender from Youtube to complete my assignments. perhaps the teaching styles didn't match, but i didn't feel that labs were helpful at all.

get Blender here: http://www.blender.org/

so after prowling Youtube for hours to learn from scratch what Blender is and such, I have compiled a list of Youtube tutorials for Blender which i found were succinct and great! i can be impatient so these videos are mostly shorter than 20mins.

first up, cgboorman is awesome to the max!  he has a series of tutorials covering various topics and they are all clear and easy to follow.
check out his channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/cgboorman

Character UV mapping by cgboorman:

Simple Animation by TheMrGoman:

Modelling a human by RivenPhoenix:

Animating paths by ianscott888:

Export animation by Daniel Kreuter:

Blender also has a video editing function which is very easy to use with it's drag and drop function.

and this is how i survived my 3d modelling module assignments. with the power of Youtube! i'm not good at it but at least i could scrape pass i guess. (T▽T)

nice songs always help make modelling less tedious:

Crest White Strips 2 Hour Express

i love coffee. i drink a lot of it. but somehow unlike my brother, my teeth get stained so damn yellow. i was quite bothered by it but my dentist was kinda against whitening them since he said it was damaging and blah blah.

so when my mom went to the states, i just had to ask her to get me these Crest White Strips! i'm not sure if it's just me but i can't seem to find these in Singapore! plus those whitening toothpastes i find are more for maintenance more than for actual whitening?

these are the 2 hour express which comes in 2 sets. each set with 2 strips. and ya my nails look more like poisonous mushrooms than polka dots.

this is 1 set containing 1 upper and 1 lower strip.

she got me these too but i've not tried them. might save them for later since the recommended usage is once or twice a year.

when you open the pack you find these 2 strips. they are adhesive and gel-like. so just stick them onto your teeth. thankfully for braces, my teeth are rather straight so getting the strips to stick on properly was easy.

speaking of braces, ever since i removed my braces, i do get recurring nightmares where my teeth all fell out. they will fall out one by one and bleed and then i choke to death on my own blood. and they were the realistic dreams where you can taste the blood and all... uh yea. i wonder if it's cause i did remove quite a bit of teeth for my braces. post-traumatic stress. hahaha. but damn i would rather my other recurring dream of zombie apocalypses where i jump out of a window and plunge to my death then turn into a zombie.

so here are some uhm. rather gross photos of my yellow teeth. actually, i feel that my teeth in the before photo is more yellow irl but the sunlight made it look less yellow? no color editing was done to the photos. the during photo was taken about 1 hr into it.

there is no discomfort since they are just there sticking on your teeth and though there might be a bit of taste, it is rather negligible. BUT, after it i did experience a teensy bit of sensitivity. meh.

it did lighten my teeth by maybe a shade? not bad for 2 hours. but with the consequent sensitivity i'm not sure if it's worth it. somehow the during photo looked so white i was quite disappointed when i removed the strips. booo. maybe the effects will be better with the 14 day whitening which is gradual, as compared to this which is more intensive. shall try the 14 days during the holidays when i can try to reduce coffee intake. hehh.

Legoland - Malaysia

so i went to Legoland at JB a week back. truthfully, i was very excited for it since i heard about it last year/beginning of this year since my brothers and i did use to play with Lego and built these awesome castles! but booo it didn't live up to my expectations of it. \(T^T)/

it is spilt into a couple of zones as per usual - Kingdoms, Technic, Lego City, Mini Land, Imagination, Land of Adventure.

Kingdoms with the classic castle and dragons.

this is extremely pretty to me for some odd reason.

uhm. bears...playing? \( > - < )/

there were many play areas/play grounds around with different themes but i didn't visit them since they were mostly catered to kids. Legoland is extremely children friendly since most of the attractions/rides seemed to be designed for children 5-10 years old! i don't think teenagers will like it particularly much. i found it rather lacking. and definitely no adrenaline rush available!

a Musical Fountain. it has sensors so music starts playing as you approach it. hahaha.

a wet ride that was not as thrilling as i thought it would be. \(°^°)/

after walking a bit we had lunch at the cafe!

rainbow icecream which was basically paddlepop in a cone. super love paddlepop so i liked this a lot. HAHAHA.

salmon sandwich. the food seems super catered and not theme park stuff at all! in Disney and USS, the food are normally set to a theme with the cutlery and such designed specifically. those attention to details is what makes the experience so magical! however, at Legoland i felt like i was at Delifrance... \(T^T)/

the sculptures placed around randomly are quite interesting though. wahaha. #hamsup

water boat ride! if only the course was longer and more decorated...

sea themed fountain.

uber cute robots at the Technic side!

you could totally bring a pocket of legos and just disfigure them by sticking random pieces on. HAHAHA.

they were having some event/class, not sure which but wasn't that intriguing...i think the CS1101S Sumo-bots contest was so much cooler. hehh.

in this air-conditioned area where people try to build structures taller than these.

only photo i captured at the Land of Adventure.

lego pigeon!!!

Mini Land was the area which interested me the most since the level of detail to the sculptures were crazy, for lego standards. I mean, doing miniature replicas with just lego blocks requires a lot of skill as compared to normal materials due to the constraints of the parts. hence the abnormal amount of photos.

can you spot the mini pandas frolicking about by the Great Wall?

butter fact. hahaha.

in all, i feel that unless you are towing kids along, just give Legoland a miss. or more time to hopefully improve their existing infrastructure. especially if you're looking for an adrenaline rush. also, when i was there, i spent 45 mins queuing for the observatory tower and roller coaster. that is nothing for a theme park since i queued way more for Transformers in USS. BUT THE THING IS, THE RIDES BOTH BROKE DOWN. so i queued for 90 mins odd in total AND i was told that the rides broke down, TWICE. so definitely NOT a good experience -.-

though i'm pretty sure kids will love that place, broken rides or not.
