The Process and Thanks

firstly, omgggg thanks everyone for the insane amount of support for my first commercial artwork!!!

i had initially printed 40 cards, thinking "well, at most i will stuff them into random mailboxes if they dont sell!"

but the same night it was all sold out and i had to go reprint them!

you guys have no idea how significant that felt to me.

to someone who has always been extremely unsatisfied and insecure with her artwork, this overwhelming support has been extremely stunning. i feel like crying. hahaha. but im a cold-hearted bitch, so no tears.

im however, really really grateful to all you guys for the love and support!

especially to Mr. Brother, who is a super supportive sibling. good job and Evil Brother Bank credits++ for convincing me to try selling my artwork, offering ideas and being sales person #1.

thanks for being so encouraging Mr. Brother & TP!

prototypes on my wall.

cutting the A3 pieces into A6! thankfully, my dad hoards tools. we have a paper cutter, laminating machine, soldering irons, woodcutting tools and almost every other shit at home. which is great, truly, cause i get to do all these shenanigans.

stamping the envelopes by hand from my handcrafted stamp!

drawing on the trunk and stars.

glitterfying and waiting for them to dry.

i will be making more random collections of my artwork soon, hope you guys will dig those too!

thanks for the loveee.

Fathers' Day card

i wont be home this Fathers' Day so i made a simple card in advance to fill in and post it back home.

my dad likes to say stuff such as "WHAT THE TOOT" instead of actual swearing when we were kids and i guess it just carried on now. though he does swear more openly these days in english and not hokkien which he thinks the kids, ie. us do not understand. though we did. i mean, who didnt right. especially swear words.

to use, download this image in it's original size and print on A4 card. the size of the card is actually A5 so that when printed, cut it out from the A4 card. fold it in half and it results in an A6 card.

Book Marks

the holidays are for reading. especially during the crazy rain spells.

made a book mark of no-face from Spirited Away!

and this tea bag book mark.

ice cream bookmark!

bidding for modules is extremely annoying this semester. i appealed for pc1221 and the appeal to bid for it got through. BUT i was too poor to even make the minimum bid. wtf.

Cupcake-frosted Cookie Keychain

every year since forever, i would hand-make something for my aunt's christmas gift. each year it will be stitched, drawn, modelled or painted. and she would display all of it prettily in a cabinet. all of it filled with my stuff. hahaha. idea sourcing normally start in november for her present.

this year i made an assortment of felt cookies for her to hang on keys etc!

my pumpkin needle cushion. hehh.

all my felt these days are bakery colored.

done in 15mins!!! great time passer. great in the sense that my mom loves these too. so they are great for pacifying her in events when i piss her off. hahaha.

Simple Christmas Cards DIY

IT'S DECEMBERRR. which means CHRISTMAS. yes yes. i'm one of those who celebrate christmas as a purely commercial festivity. an excuse to get all my supplies together to make cards for people i care about. sort of a mushy card to thank them for them being them. so if you get a mushy card and get goosebumps reading them, too bad. HAHAHA. (● ̄(エ) ̄●)/

scissors, glue and paper is all you need! kinda.

i've had this zigzag scissors since primary school. still working super well!

cut various stripes of zigzag and straight lines.

glue them all onto a different colored sheet.

hole punch some red paper for baubles.

cut the tree out!

i used glitter polish for this cause i ran out of craft glitter. not too bad since the shimmers are smaller.

there were other variations of colors but i thought green+red was the most festive! the rest looked like christmas on LSD though so i scrapped them. hahaha.

ah. my new hello kitty nails + pink + glitter. i kind of feel this saccharine overdose everytime i look at it. but not enough to regret. hahaha.

Childhood Memories

i was a happy kid with piles of scrap paper and markers. as i was digging for my academic certificates, i got side tracked by these drawings i did when i was in primary/kindergarten. hahaha. found them in a file under my dressing table. there were a lot more drawings, autograph books, birthday cards and even compositions i wrote. hahaha. those will not see the light of day.

guess i never had any knack for color coordination. what's up with their funky clown hair hahaha!

my obsession with multi-colored hair mermaids started young. complete with the sun-at-the-corner look.

this should be primary 3? with the YG magazine last time.

those weird concerts we always have during children's day. the lady in the audience looks like she has black poop for hair. ahahaha.

a note from when i was p5 from this p1 girl who i buddied with! i can't believe i still have these.

nostalgiccccc.

TUTORIAL - DIY EASY CLOTH LABELS

hello kitty donut!

after making these many, i was kind of thinking of putting them in etsy. but something was missing, i realized i needed labels! maybe it's a narcissus syndrome but it's always cute to know where something came from or who made it no? but making labels commercially was no really viable. so i found a way to make my own!

materials:
permanent marker
cotton ribbon
tee shirt transfer paper

the thing is, you could just print it but my printer was not working, so i used the marker and wrote them by hand in reverse. yes, i am talented in writing in reverse. how useful is that!

after writing them, follow the transfer instructions and iron them face down onto the cotton ribbon. it didn't work as well as if i printed them cause of the uneven ink. though i do like the personalized effect that all were handwritten and different. printing onto the transfer would still be a better and faster option though.

on a side note: my nails!!! omsdcsdjb the scotch-tape method is really too fun and the geometric designs are total love!!! they take about 30mins to complete TOPS.

sew them on!

TUTORIAL - DONUTS SPECIMEN ART DECO

i realized, one way to curb my non-stop eating is to channel the urge to constantly do something to stuff like knotting tonnes of bracelets, or making cute felt food. sewing them while watching Burn Notice gives me something to watch AND something to keep my hands/subconciousness occupied. hahaha. ohkay, i still eat non-stop actually.

when you accumulate enough of these cute donuts, you can make them into magnets, pin cushions OR this yummy looking wall deco! i made a magnet choco donut for my brother and left it in his room but i think he still can't find it. -,-

sure it makes you feel hungry and crave for donuts all the time but the cuteness it adds to the wall is worth it.

materials needed:
tan, brown, cream felt are great starters
other yummy felt colors
embroidery thread
polyester filling
linen
wooden frame

so make enough donuts to fill up the frame comfortably. then wrap your linen/cloth (chose this cause it had a natural rough grainy feel to it) around the backing of the frame. sew the donuts on with a few simple stitches in case you change your mind and WA LA. doneeeee. go hang it up and drool. hahaha. or just shove in a magnet before you sew up the donut and you have a super yummy looking magnet. wahahaha. ヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ

i love Mister Donut! but only had it in taiwan. as much as they were yummy, they looked SO CUTE. their mascot was one of the cutest ever!

winged a pattern for the Pon De Ring and tested it out. lucky it was of the proportions and size i liked! might upload it soon if i can get the scanner to cooperate. so trace x2 of the pattern and sew around.

so three episodes = four donuts.

the round ones are easy enough, sewing the inside rim and then the outside. i realized its easier to get the stuffing even if i sew 1/2 and stuff that half and continue sewing.

for the Pon de Ring donut (i call it the osdmvdbnkmv yummy mister donut lion head donut), i figured just sewing from the pattern didn't give the effect i liked. you need to sew and wind the thread around each segment once.

this photo has the white segmented donut BEFORE wrapping the segments. the pink one was segmented. quite a big difference.

segmenting by wrapping. the thing is, sometimes i can't decide to use cream thread so it matches the color on top but clashes with the tan felt below or to use tan and clash. sigh. #firstworldproblems. just remember to wind reaaalll tight twice.

a cat donut cause why not right. this is easy too. just cut 2 circles of 2 different colors, stack them together, and snip in half. then sew them back together like frankenstein. add a cute face and ears and DONE. so cute svfdbjsgb.

this is when i look at them and go I NEED A 5 YEAR OLD NIECE/NEPHEW WHO WILL PLAY WITH THEM. justify my obsessive compulsion to make an entire collection of donuts.

tested a green tea one. tried to use my eyeshadow as matcha powder. uhm. apparently it looks like mould. hahaha. ヽ(- . -)ノ

a choco banana bear donut ring. hehhh. ヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ

AND. i finally got a new wallet. i love how freaking durable and minimalistic these are.
