MINECRAFT PARTY

today was the day of the long awaited MINECRAFT LAN PARTY.! its so so so funnnn. ヽ(*≧ω≦)ﾉ

at first i woke up with like swollen eyes and a runny nose so i couldnt get out of bed. but after popping vit c pills and concussing till 2pm, i was REVIVEDDDDD. ヽ(*≧ω≦)ﾉ so i packed my laptop and walked to eusoff. hee.

due to my epic sense of directions, i walked to temasek thinking it was eusoff. fml when i realized that eusoff was further up the hill i was like "ohhhhh..." #soclosefreddiemercury. kinda used up my entire annual quota of exercise and sunlight exposure this afternoon. totally worth it though.! if i didnt go ill be rotting in my small square in hall doing nothing.

meeting them irl and un-pixelated in 3D was so cool so cool. ahahahaha. so we set about playing minecraft, setting up the new world, making chuck norris jokes, 9gag references and it was so epic fun. watched parts of Dark Knight too.

the NPCs look rather...ugly. theyve weird noses.!!! thought they were beards at first. but the layout of the villages were nice.!!! first thing that made me laugh like mad when i logged on was seeing darth dk. hahaha. the awkward moment when you meet darth as a stormtrooper in minecraft. then chuck norris appeared. hahaha.

le sigh. totally enjoyed today.! too bad i had to go home for dinner with the brother and pick up some stuff. BUT. ill be back tmr to play. hee. with sandwiches. ヽ(*≧ω≦)ﾉ

NEW PROJECT

ive started a new project which will most probably take ages to complete. hopefully itll be done by september. im glad its coming along so well but with the hectic modules the coming semester, itll be a slow slow slow progress.

ive done most of the line work. but thats like 1% of it in its entirety. at least i managed to pack my luggage for hall tmr. im going minimalistic. the more i shift, the less i bring. guess thats good i guess.

shifting back to hall => back to a steady diet of coffee and instant msg-laden food. gosh. ( T∀T)

but im highly thankful that this semester's bidding were flawless and minimal hassle. normally ill have to bid/appeal/bid till i end up with rubbish but ive got all 5 modules easily this semester. albeit motherexpensive. le sigh.

a new cover i sewed for the book i binded that day. has elastic too in case the pages fall out cause of ive not much confidence in the durability of the book. hahaha. the elastic was dyed brown in coffee. how organic. hahaha. else its so ugly to use white elastic for this brown cloth.

the inside slot. best part is this is reusable for all A5 sized books. #freddiemercury

inkscape is fun. highly intuitive. if youre looking for an illustrator, give it a try.! although i just dl-ed it but it seems good so far. doodled abit on it too to get the hang of it. a 1800dpi mouse is rly unsuitable for such stuff. meh.

nyanja is actually a cat who thinks its a ninja and loves coffee.

thus it appears randomly on people's notes and desks. hehh.

NEW SKILL ACQUIRED: BOOK BINDING

today i left on a voyage for nice sketchbooks but i couldnt find any. not to mention the bloody amount of kids in Popular cause i conveniently wasnt informed that tmr was start of school etc etc etc. fml ttm. sigh. 

im highly anal about my sketchbooks. theyve to be off-white, bounded not spirals, and be of a reasonable thickness(wtf uses a sketchbook of 20pages.?! not even enough for 5days.!!!). and cause i dont like to doodle on expensive paper(feels so precious that it stops my doodle juice and the constant nagging that ill screw up and waste the pretty book), i cant bring myself to buy moleskin. #cheaplikethat. thats when crafting skillz get important and i decided to make my own. #challengeaccepted.

its great cause you can get whatever paper you want, whatever covering you want and requires minimal crafting skills.! plus the materials are common too. like staplers and glue. nothing too specialized. hee.

this newly unlocked skill is highly useful for future sketchbooking purposes. i scrummaged around for materials and made a rather half-assed one in less than 45mins. the backing was made from random not very pleasing scraps of cloth but its ohkay. shall find better ones. #soclosefreddiemercury. hahaha.

the book is good for doodles and character studies since the book is technically "free" thus you doodle whatever rubbish in it. the results are promising. might make some more with better paper etc after i finish this book.!

the first sketch in the book i made using a calligraphy pen. the shakiness of my hands transferred over. hehh. #smugsmug. i seldom do houses or stuff cause i suck at freehand perspectives. but this year, one of my goals is to expand my repertoire to decent proper houses and guys. hahaha.

A STORY: THE CIRCUS

a short love story that i doodled today.

might develop it into a better project. ive a few more stories but trying to get them perfect is hard. so now ill make do with doodles/drafts. somehow doodling directly with a marker makes it flow easier. still not what i want though. actually, ive no idea what i want yet.

trying to transfer this into a more thought out piece of work is stifling me cause im not satisfied at all with the style so far. oh wells. may this help me get over it.

COWBOY BEBOP: KNOCKIN ON HEAVEN'S DOOR

Cowboy Bebop is one of the oldschool anime that i like alot. its an art style thats not too pretty boy yet still highly attractive to me. these days most of the anime/manga are of ridiculously pretty boys that looks like girls and the violence/humor in them are not as plentiful. sigh. either that or im running out of my usual genre(animes just arent as violent/dark anymoreeeee) and straying to others(shoujo) hence the pretty boys.

Yes yes. TL;DR. essentially its 3 paragraphs how you should watch it cause you wont regret it.! ive watched the anime series at least twice and recently i stumbled upon the movie.! the movie feels like an extended episode. nothing too special but if you like a series, the more the merrier.! i dont ever want it to end. the sense of emptiness when it ends. le sigh.

best anime + music combo ever.

the plot goes along the usual bounty hunting of a criminal but there are poignant scenes that make it memorable. the philosophical nature of certain bits and the sad romance of Vincent. -wipes tear away dramatically- also, its one of the few instances that Spike seem human.! hehh. i love Ed too. the way she wiggles and speaks. hee. ﾉ(´・ω・)ﾉ

one of the scenes that kind of sum up my 2011. lets hope 2012 will be more forgiving.

the bgm for the movie is nice as per all bebop sessions. hahaha. the last fight scene between Spike and Vincent had the nicest music i feel. around the 1:43:00 mark. the jazzy feel. yaye to nice bgm.! also, watch the  movie in its entirety including the credits. ( ´∀` )

Mask Review: DERMAL (VITAMIN COLLAGEN ESSENCE)

HAH. using all these masks and stuff, i decided to write my thoughts on them. i doubt anybody will really read it but just in case it might be useful to someone and thus karma++ for me.! hehh.

background info:

my skin is freaking dry and im lazy to use moisturisers or anything on a daily basis so masks twice a week is my way of apologising to my skin. HAH. most of the masks i get are concentrated on perks such as hydration, collagen(yes yes, old age is catching up), whitening and brightening. yupp.

since i use this quite abit before i shifted to My Beauty Diary, it shall be the "baseline".

Mask Review: DERMAL (VITAMIN COLLAGEN ESSENCE)


i first got to know this years ago in Korea. ohmytian. it was available at their supermarts and i happened to feel like the winter wind was getting to my skin so i bought one. the next day i went back and bought all "flavours" from the rack. tonnes of it. it was roughly SGD$1/piece and i had the Pokemon syndrome of needing to COLLECT THEM ALL. then it came to singapore but the prices werent as attractive. however, right now places like Watson's have promotions etc that makes the prices just as good now. yaye.!

Brand: Dermal - Vitamin Collagen essence

Price: around $1/piece

Availability: Easy, Watson's and Sasa both carry it.

Scent: Barely there, good for people who doesnt like overpowering scents.

Fit: The mask is slightly thicker and it comes with the eye-cover bits. ive slightly more sensitive eyes so i usually fold it so it rests on my eyebags instead. not too bad a fit but could be better.

Amount of product: 23g/sheet. uh. i never used to care about this but i used a mask from Faceshop that day. it was dry beyond words which made me damn sian. the amount on this mask is ohkay, sufficient for the face and neck but not dripping wet like some that can be used for hands etc.

After feel: Its not too sticky which is something i seriously dislike for masks. I prefer light masks that leave a slight moisturizing film without the heaviness.

Overall: For the price, wide variety to suit different needs, its one of the masks ill use on a thrice a week basis. A general, economic, basic, maintenance kind of mask. Downside is that its not exactly powerful so its best to use it more often then other masks.

NEW YEAR'S EVE

my initial plan for the night was to huddle home alone and watch tv and maybe drink a hot coffee(cause we have no wine no beer not even sparkling juice at home). then the bunny decided NOBODY SHOULD DO THAT. hahaha. so i left my house for a concert at SOTA and beers with bunny, zip, gabriel, liangjuin and nicholas. lucky for that. else ill be regretting and going fml #foreveralone when i hear all the party cheers from my neighbors.

dinner and beers at Brewerkz. pizza y u so yummy. i might be one of the few who actually prefer fat chewy pizzas as opposed to the thin-crusted Timbre kind. ( ´ ∀ ` ) liangjuin has photos of the food so i didnt bother. dslr >>> my phone
